Brittany Hitt, LCSW
Lead Clinical Therapist · Eating disorders, anxiety, and OCD
There's a particular exhaustion that comes from running your life by rules.
Rules about food. About what you're allowed to eat and when and how much. Rules about checking, counting, redoing, getting it exactly right — and the anxiety that arrives the moment you don't.
From the outside it can look like discipline. From the inside it's a full-time job you never applied for.
My work is on the rules themselves: where they came from, what they're protecting you from, and how to start dismantling them without your whole world falling apart.
Who I work with:
Adult women whose eating disorder, anxiety, or OCD-tendencies has become the organizing structure of their day.
I'm strongest with:
Anorexia and bulimia recovery
Anxiety and OCD — including the compulsions people are most embarrassed to describe
Perfectionism — where the standard is impossible and missing it is unbearable
Body image — when what you see and what's there don't match
How I work:
I work primarily in cognitive behavioral therapy, which means we go after the mechanics: the thoughts that trigger the behavior, the behavior that provides relief, and the relief that guarantees you'll do it again.
Naming that cycle out loud is usually the first time it becomes something you can interrupt rather than something that just happens to you.
We move at a pace you can actually sustain. I won't push you into an exposure you're not ready for, and I won't pretend change is comfortable either. Most of my clients tell me the first real shift was being able to say the embarrassing part out loud and watch me not react.
I'm told I'm easy to talk to, which I take as the compliment it is — but the part I care about more is that people leave sessions with something concrete to work with.
Working together:
$195 per 45-minute session, in person in Tustin or online anywhere in California.
I'm in-network with Aetna and United Healthcare — you'll pay your standard copay and we bill your insurance directly. I also work with out-of-network plans. Check your OON benefits here.
